This all happened this past Thursday and Friday with a projected move in date of Nov 15.
We luckily have not had the chance to live at The Haven Apartments. Instead we wasted our time and money viewing an apartment and paying the OUTRAGEOUS approximately $400 application fees for a specific apartment unit.
After being approved, our families contacted us to read more reviews and so sorry to everyone who took the time to write here, we should have checked.
Our main concern of all the negative reviews was the gate not working and multiple car break ins. When we toured the space we were told weâd be given a key fob to let us in the gate (when we arrived the gate was up but I assumed it was because we had an appointment and no other way to get in.)
When we called with this concern as well as trash concerns (we heard the trash compactor had caught on fire twice) we spoke with the new assistant property manager Khalil and were met with information about an unknown new manager coming soon and âeverything is being fixedâ
To be very honest this started to put me at ease until he asked for our unit number and he informed us âSomeone moved in either yesterday or todayâ To say I was speechless would be a complete understatement because I lost it. What do you mean THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX SOLD ME A UNIT THEN MOVED SOMEONE ELSE IN, Khalil then tells us that âtheyâve been approved for two weeksâ IF THEY WERE APPROVED FOR TWO WEEKS WHY WERE WE SOLD THAT UNIT
KHALIL then goes on to try and sell us units on the first floor, smaller units, units with less rooms and Iâm just still baffled because WE JUST SPENT APPROXIMATELY $400 IN APPLICATION FEES FOR AN APARTMENT THAT WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR US TO LIVE IN
I told Khalil to call me back before 2:30 with answers and he said he would- when I called back at 2:20 a nice woman answered the phone and said he either left for lunch or the day she wasnât sure and that she could have him call me back when he returns. I said I would call back when I was available.
I called back at 3:30 and KHALIL answers the phone and quickly apologized for not calling me back yet as heâd been busy, he agains tells me about the other units and Iâm not into it- the bad reviews, our families concerns, OUR UNIT BEING ALREADY SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE
LITERALLY MOVED THEM IN THE DAY/DAY AFTER WE WERE APPROVED MAKE THAT MAKE SENSE.
I asked for a refund and Khalil told me he would start working on getting me our administrative fees back and I said no I want the full application fees we put into the apartment YOU SOLD TO US WITH A TENANT ALREADY MOVING INTO IT. We need to find somewhere else to go and obviously looking at this place we donât have much money so getting our money back for a place we never even had a chance of living in is actually sick.
Literally got us to like them with LIES AND FALSE EXPECTATIONS just to take our money and say oh well.
Assistant property manager KHALIL said he would have someone else reach out to me about getting the rest of our money back and until that happens this review will stay up and I will continue to fight for my money back- lawyers included if necessary.
